The Dyna-Glo DG01176BDC-D is easy to use, performs well and is designed to stand the test of time. However, the poor quality of materials used and how the unit was made which resulted to poor performance are also noted.
Pros
Construction
This smoker is solidly built for durability. The fire box is big enough to hold more wood. Likewise, the smoker can also hold more food with a more specific built-in thermometer.
Ease of Use
The instruction of how to use this smoker is simple and assembling the unit is straightforward and could be done in less than an hour. The racks move around easily to accommodate different sizes of food while the temperature could be easily controlled with the vents on both sides of the smoker. Refilling more wood is not a hassle.
Performance
The smoker has the ability to keep food at the desired temperature reading. Furthermore, its 6 adjustable cooking grates easily allow to smoke big amount of food in just a day.
Cons
Quality
The most notable downslide of this smoker is the metal used. It is thin and of poor quality; thus, resulting to a faster heat loss. The paint burnt-off even just after the first use and the unit rusted easily.
Construction
Inconvenient to use since the height of the unit is quite low and has to be placed on top of some concrete blocks. The cooking grates are very lightweight; there is a notable gap between the smoking chamber and the firebox which leaks on top. Moreover, the charcoal area cannot hold more coal and there is no proper air circulation in the wood and coal tray.
Performance
Since air cannot circulate properly, keeping the temperature at the desired reading has been quite difficult to achieve. It even needed a wood stove gasket and the entire unit has to be sealed to keep the temperature at the required reading.
